While gardens across Europe are already in bloom, on our island the season moves at its own gentle pace. The air is still crisp from the North Atlantic, the days are growing longer, and along the walking trails the first signs of green are beginning to appear. It is a time of quiet renewal here on the edge of the Avalon.

March is also a time when St. John’s begins to wake up again. Cafés and pubs fill with lively conversation, coastal walks become longer, and the anticipation of summer festivals and travel slowly returns. As I write this blog I am on a flight home from the Caribbean from a family vacation. The sunshine and island life there was so beautiful. For me though nothing beats icebergs dotting the coastline in summer at home or the smell for the barrens underfoot as you berrypick Listening to and watching the waves crash against the shore. at sunrise and sunset is my favourite thing to do.
