Growing Together: Skincare, Rituals & Aging Well at 60+

Growing Together: Skincare & Rituals for 60+ Skin (and the Love That Holds It All)

Aging isn’t a decline. It’s a refinement.

Our skin changes. Our hair changes. Our priorities shift in the most beautiful way. What once felt urgent softens… and what truly matters becomes clear.

For Ferg and me, this chapter is about longevity, wellness, and feeling good in our bodies every single day. Not chasing who we used to be—but deeply caring for who we are now.

And that care shows up in the quietest ways… especially in our daily rituals.

Skin at This Stage Needs Nourishment, Not Correction

One of the biggest shifts I’ve seen—both personally and professionally—is this:

What worked before often doesn’t work anymore.

Mature skin doesn’t respond well to harsh treatments, over-exfoliation, or anything that strips it down. Instead, it thrives on:

  • Deep hydration

  • Barrier support

  • Calming, nutrient-rich ingredients

This is where your glow comes back—not from force, but from restoration.

1. Nighttime Is Your Skin’s Healing Window

If there’s one thing I never skip, it’s my nighttime moisturizer.

This is when your skin repairs, restores, and rebuilds. What you apply in the evening should fully absorb and stay in the skin—not evaporate or sit on top.

For over 17 years, I’ve worked with mango butter and shea butter in my formulations. They offer something incredibly important at this stage: lasting hydration and density support.

They don’t just moisturize—they help the skin feel fuller, calmer, and more resilient.

What I’m Using Right Now

I rotate depending on the season and what my skin is asking for:

  • Aurora Moisturizer – quick absorption with deep nourishment

  • Aurora Sleep Masque – lightweight, restorative overnight care

  • Labrador Tea Day Cream – calming and protective

  • Rose Petal Eye Cream – softens and hydrates delicate skin

  • Labrador Tea Night Cream – rich, healing, especially after sun exposure

  • Arctic Sunshine Firming Cream – supports tone and texture

There’s no rigid system—just listening and adjusting.

Ferg keeps things simple. His favourite is the Labrador Tea Night Cream, especially when his skin feels dry or sun-exposed. It hydrates deeply and helps his skin recover quickly.

2. Gentle Cleansing Is Everything

Cleansing should never leave your skin tight or stripped.

Morning and evening, the goal is simple: clean the skin while maintaining its natural balance.

Ferg isn’t one for a complicated routine—but he’s consistent. He uses the Aurora Facial Bar daily, keeps lip balm within reach, and lets me handle the rest.

In the evenings, while we’re relaxing, I’ll often apply a serum or moisturizer for him. It becomes a quiet moment of care—and by the time he goes to bed, his skin has fully absorbed everything.

And the results speak for themselves: smoother texture, less redness, healthier skin overall.

Our Go-To Cleansers

  • Aurora Facial Bar

  • Seabuckthorn Facial Bar (unscented)

I love plant-based glycerin bars because they:

  • Remove makeup effectively

  • Leave the skin feeling fresh, not dry

  • Create a subtle firming effect

And the natural aromatherapy—Labrador Tea and Blue Tansy—is something people instantly connect with. It’s soft, calming, and grounding.

3. Rituals Over Routines

This might be the most important part of all.

Over the years, Ferg and I have created small rituals that honour each other. Not elaborate. Not time-consuming. Just intentional.

This July marks 10 years together… and what I’ve come to understand is this:

It’s not about doing more.
It’s about doing things with presence.

A gentle face massage while watching TV.
A warm room with soft lighting.
A quiet moment at the end of the day where care is given and received.

These are the things that support not just your skin—but your nervous system, your connection, your life.

Final Thoughts: This Is What Aging Well Really Looks Like

Healthy skin at 60+ isn’t about perfection.

It’s about comfort.
It’s about hydration.
It’s about softness—in your skin and in your life.

When you nourish your skin instead of correcting it…
When you create rituals instead of chasing routines…
When you care for yourself and the people you love in small, meaningful ways…

That’s when everything begins to glow again.

Quietly. Naturally. Beautifully. ✨
